In-Animate is an exploration of the life we bestow upon the objects around us. Although we often consider these things as non-living, if we pay close attention and observe carefully, we can discover an incredible amount of life within them. They live through us; their existence depends on our care and attention. Not only through the intention with which we bring these objects into existence, but also through everything required to keep them 'alive.' Just as the flowers in our homes need care, so do the objects around us.
In this installation, a series of artificial flowers exist in various stages of their 'life,' ranging from fully functional to almost lifeless. The flowers open and close, with some moving smoothly, while others stutter in their movements, their lights flickering as if they are dying. In some cases, petals have already fallen to the ground, symbolizing the gradual decay of the artificial life around us.
